I decided to take a break from the thought provoking, opinion based pieces I've been writing lately to feature one of the best African fashion brands out there right now.
One of my issues with Cameroonian fashion/lifestyle "bloggers" is the lack of exposure given to Cameroonian/African designers and brands. They'll post on European brands, but seldom feature local talent. I know right now there's a big fuss on consuming "locally made" products, but we'll need bloggers to offer more than shallow encouragement to buy local. We'll need them to actually feature Cameroonian and African designers, because there are a lot of talented ones out there.
With that out of the way, allow me to introduce South African fashion brand (and one of my favorite African brands) MaXhosa by Laduma. Founded in 2010, the brand revolves around the designer's Xhosa culture, and has gone on to be featured in ELLE S.A, and is currently stocked by Japanese retail giant, United Arrows (alongside international designers like Haider Ackerman and Dries Van Noten).
